Maureen K. Ohlhausen joined the firm after serving as Technology Policy Counsel at the Business Software Alliance, an international trade association for the commercial software industry and its hardware partners. Prior to that, she spent 11 years at the Federal Trade Commission in a number of leadership roles. As Director of the Office of Policy Planning from 2004 to 2008, she supervised the development of reports, amicus briefs, and advocacy filings on competition and consumer protection topics, principally focusing on e-commerce, advertising, and technology issues. Chosen by FTC Chairman Majoras to head the Commission’s Internet Access Task Force, Ms. Ohlhausen directed a wide-ranging inquiry into issues surrounding net neutrality and oversaw the issuance of the Broadband Connectivity Competition Policy Report. She also represented the agency in testimony before Congress and the Antitrust Modernization Commission. Prior to joining Policy Planning, Ms. Ohlhausen spent three years as an attorney advisor for FTC Commissioner Orson Swindle.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Ohlhausen worked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit as a law clerk for now-chief Judge David B. Sentelle and as a staff attorney. She also clerked for Judge Robert Yock of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Ms. Ohlhausen is the author of several articles on consumer protection and competition issues, editor of a book on Competition Policy, and is a frequent speaker on competition law, privacy, and technology topics.
