Wilkinson Barker Knauer (WBK) is excited to announce the promotion of Savannah Schaefer to Partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office. Savannah has made invaluable contributions to the firm through her extensive experience in the technology and cybersecurity sectors and her leadership in policy development.
“Nothing is more fun or rewarding for the Firm than promoting our team,” said Managing Partner Bryan Tramont. “Savannah has built an industry-wide reputation as a go-to leader and resource for cybersecurity policy. In this dynamic field, she combines deep knowledge of the regulatory landscape with a thoughtful appreciation for the evolving threats we face from bad actors, foreign and domestic. Her passion for these issues and the concerns and politics that drive policymakers make Savannah an ideal advocate and advisor for clients facing an ever-growing threat surface. Equally important, Savannah’s zeal and enthusiasm for the Firm, her colleagues and her clients is infectious and makes WBK better every day. We are proud to welcome Savannah to the partnership and look forward to continuing to build her practice and the Firm together.”
As a partner, Savannah will continue advising clients on a wide range of cybersecurity, national security, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology issues within the information and communications technology sector. She leads the firm’s work on IoT security policy, including guidance developed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the forthcoming consumer IoT cybersecurity labeling program at the Federal Communications Commission. Additionally, Savannah advises clients on federal data security, cyber incident reporting, supply chain risk management, and other critical matters.
Prior to joining WBK, Savannah served as Senior Director for Advocacy at CompTIA, a major technology trade association, where she led the development and advocacy of the association’s cyber and supply chain security legal and policy positions, alongside other crucial tech and telecom issues. Additionally, she has served as Secretary of the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council, co-chaired a working group of the Department of Homeland Security’s Information and Communications Technology Supply Chain Risk Management Task Force, and was an active member of the Task Force Coordination Tiger Team.
Savannah’s prior experience also includes serving as policy counsel for the Telecommunications Industry Association, where she shaped and drove the advocacy of cybersecurity legal and policy initiatives.
Savannah’s promotion to partner underscores the firm’s commitment to excellence and its ongoing dedication to providing clients with the highest level of expertise in complex cybersecurity and technology policy issues.
